Version: 1.5.3 (using 4.3.3 (KDE 4.3.3), Gentoo) Compiler: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.31-gentoo-r6 I went to look at what was new in Akregator, clicking on feeds that showed unread articles. No new articles showed up, and typing "+" didn't do anything. Looking closer at the list of articles available, it appears that many articles have disappeared. Looking at the files in ~/.kde4/share/apps/akregator/Archive, it looks like the archives are still complete based on size.
Additional points, stopping and restarting akregator does not affect the problem.
Ah, I've identified the problem. Turns out I had a filter string. Confusing things which could be improved: * Filter string was apparently preserved across restarts of akregator - this is surprising to me. * When I hit "+", nothing happened. Perhaps, instead, something should indicate that a filter is in effect. A dialog prompting to remove the filter seems heavy-handed, however, perhaps highlighting the filter bar, and showing a status message indicating "0 unread messages match filter."
There's an option in akregator which resets the search bar when changing feed. (in settings/Configure Akregator/Advanced). Make sure it is checked.
I don't think that an option hidden in the *advanced* pane of settings is a good-enough alternative to fixing the UI issue. The UI issue is that hitting the "+" key to move to the next article did nothing - it simply failed, without indicating that a filter was in place. Feedback does not need to be dramatic, it is just that some feedback would be appropriate.
Thank you for the bug report. As this report hasn't seen any changes in 5 years or more, we ask if you can please confirm that the issue still persists. If this bug is no longer persisting or relevant please change the status to resolved.
