Hello,
I have wait qt 4.6 for report this bug. All graphic in kde slow down kde, in kinfocenter, on plasma desktop, ksysguard, ...
And especially if is in full screen.
Can you only regenerate the last part of the graph, and drop the oldest, or found ways for optimize/cache it.
Thanks.

Same for the cpu widget under kde 4.6 if it have greate size (800x600) all resizing lag and use heavy cpu.

Unmaintained, comment if this is affecting KDE 5.

And remain actual with 5.12.1, mostly with long time open and network/cpu graph widget.

Please post as much information as possible. Can you reproduce in a VM? What's your video card?

If you could script an environment (e.g., build a Virtualbox machine with packer https://github.com/hashicorp/packer) which reproduces it, that might help.

I have never try into a vm. Slow down with Intel and Radeon video card and open source drivers.

For now I'm few bit busy to do that's, sorry.
But if I put 50 network graphic widget (panel + desktop, on my both screen with 80% of visual space), in normal usage it's <24h to see the problem.
Comment 7 Ben Creasy 2018-02-23 22:16:33 UTC
Specific model numbers for the video card and drivers? Are you still using a version compiled from source, or are you using a distribution version these days?

It's difficult for developers to reproduce "normal usage". Can you provide more specific names and versions for the apps you run in normal usage? Also what kernel version?

Anyway, I can't help fix the bug, but it would be good to get enough information for the developers to stand a chance to help. Also this should probably be moved somewhere else. It might be a duplicate of an existing bug somewhere.

Hi,

I have this problem since years... many video card and drivers. I use Linux Gentoo.

Actually I'm on Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70GHz + Integrated graphic card, driver: 2.99.917_p20170313, 4.14.14.
I use chrome, thunderbird, akregator, ... I note lot of syscall, I think if you put lot of widget and profile UI theme and plasma you will see my problem.

Does disabling compositing help to improve performance? Also, how many windows do you have open on average?
Comment 10 BRULE Herman 2020-09-29 06:23:13 UTC
Now the bug is years old... The problem was I think memory leak with plasma widget as network usage graph, cpu usage graph or other usage graph.
Disable composing no change this.
I had the problem opening just 1 window.
But for KDE performance problem and stability, long time opened bug without solution I have switched to LXQt. I don't know if the bug remain valid.

Hmm, I see. Please reopen this bug report if the issue re-surfaces.
