Description anton 2009-12-21 23:45:33 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

Rather often after the system have been used for a long time (several days with intermediate hibernates) the logout/reboot/shutdown dialog is shown with visible delay (few seconds) after calling it from kickoff menu.

Sometimes I have to call it several times before it appears (cause I'm not sure if I should wait more, or if it is not going to appear), and sometimes it might stop appearing at all (this happens rather rare). Looks like the chain of some complex things happens between the moment when the dialog was called and when it actually shows up. This gives a subjective feeling that the system is unreliable - such dialog should appear instantly from the 1st click under all conditions.

The system is not too busy at this moment - it might be slower than after clean reboot (it seems that I have some memlicks somewhere), but running apps can work well enough, so there should be enough resouces to show such small dialog anyways.

Please recheck if
- in such a situation you have heavy disk activity (which might indicate that the system is paging in/out which would lead to the described effect)
- it still happens in KDE 4.9.0
