Description pavelfric 2009-12-20 18:08:35 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
Installed from: Mandriva RPMs

I make my own translation into czech language, merging with current files and replacing of proper files in "cs" folder with localizations (http://fripohled.blogspot.com). Currently installed version of Amarok 2.2.1. File taken from version for kDE 4.4 (http://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/trunk-kde4/team/cs/extragear-multimedia/)

Very old and persistent problem: in "Context window" - Configure Applets...: (strings are in file: desktop_extragear-multimedia_amarok):
Current track - in file translated, but remains rendered in English
Lyrics
Wikipedia
Videoclip
Info

In main menu: "Playlist"
Problem with some submenus: Repeat - Off and Random - Off, Tracks, ... This may be perhaps caused with the fact that I tried version 2.2.1 with .mo file of current developement version. In previous using of files this behaviour wasn't observed.

Then in Tools:
Script Manager - Správce skriptů
Generic
Lyrics
Scriptabe Service
--- and the texts for listed services.

in Settings:
In translation file in string 290: (Internet Services) Internetové služby: these strings aren't included? in . po file?!:- Services - Preview and buy music from the non-evil Magnatune record label

string 1192: (Amarok expects the above database and user account to already exist. This
user also requires full access to the database.): in .po file is larger text: Amarok expects the above database and user account to already exist. This user also requires full access to the database. You MUST restart Amarok after changing these settings. - Amarok očekává, že databáze a uživatelský účet již existují. Tento uživatel také potřebuje, aby měl plný přístup k databázi. Po provedení změn v těchto nastaveních MUSÍTE Amarok spustit znovu.

This string is not included?: GRANT ALL ON amarokdb.* TO 'amarokuser'@'localhost'IDENTIFIED BY'Heslo'; FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

in "Internet" panel on left:
These strings aren't included? in . po file?!: Cool Streams - List of some high quality radio streams
Librivox.org - Search for books from Librivox

Strings 1429 - 1431: in amarok file translated, but remains rendered in English
Default (I found this text only in string 1181)
No Grouping - Žádné seskupení
No Grouping (Single Line) - Žádné seskupení (jeden řádek)
Verbose - Mnohomluvný

String 1662: Title (with track number) - Název (s číslem skladby): in amarok file translated, but remains rendered in English
Length

String 1675: Singl - there are "untranslated" subitems too:
Title, Length, Artist, Album

You should communicate with the 'cs' translation group of KDE, I really don't see the point of reinventing the wheel with your own personal translation. Nobody reported any string issues, so this could also be a packaging problem. Reassigning.

Thanks for the answer. It seemed to me, that the strings aren't assigned a right places. Of course nobody reported it as bug, it probably didn't make any sense for them to do this, when a majority of GUI looks like translated. The can say themselves. that in time... all will be all right. Hopefully czech coordinator will press the activity in this directory.

The czech translation is according to the statistics little behind my level. I only merge two files and after completion replace appropriate amarok.mo file in "cs" folder and for long periods see the same problems.

This pretty much looks like bug in Amarok.

I have translated strings Lyrics, Wikipedia, Videoclip, Photos and Info in Czech trunk desktop_extragear-multimedia_amarok.po and tested on Amarok 2.2.1.90. These strings remain untranslated.

Maybe amarok team should check, whether those strings are marked as translatable both in 2.2.1 and 2.2.1.90.

Thanks.

Leo, could you have a look at this? If this is indeed a problem with Amarok it is strange we didn't get reports from other languages, then.

Now in Amarok 2.2.2 I see, that the questioned strings in ContextView are translated (some others remain, e. g. Fully Rescan Collection - in Amarok Settings - tab: Collection) - I am interested in, which translation .po file are taken these strings from: Current Track, Photos, Wikipedia, because obviously it is not loaded from .mo of desktop_extragear-multimedia_amarok.po.
Comment 6 Myriam Schweingruber 2010-01-16 12:03:05 UTC
Well, the problem is not in Amarok, but most likely either in the translation or a packaging problem. Please talk to them.
