Version: 2.2.1 (using 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2), Debian packages) Compiler: cc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.30-2-amd64 There is no option to open and play medias like CDROM. When I try to include the media /cdrom nothing happenes. Ther is no media source like CDROM. There is no way to tell amarok that the cdrom drive is /dev/hda. In kaffeine it works, in kscd neither. But kaffeine has this option where I can define /dev/hda or /dev/cdrom as xine-Parameter.

when I put in a cdrom or when I start the computer with an audio cd in the drive the system performs an action that makes the computer freeze almost. That is, Kmail and other applications are very slow. But it appears this only happenes when amarok tries to scan the cdrom.
Martin, you just need to mount the device. Normally, when you put in a CD, there is a "New Device Notifier" in the panel that shows up and allows you to mount the CD and perform various actions. This definitely works with Amarok 2.2-git here, it shows the CD in the Local Music section, just right click on it and choosing "Read the device" is mounting the CD as well.
1. "New Device Notifier" a. There is this option "play with amarok" that does not work. Currently nothing happens, when I click it. Last time it opened amarok but nothing happened. (See desciption above) b. There is no option to mount the cdrom. Even the option to open it within dolphin is not available. All this has worked before I switched to KDE 4 2. Other options When I use "Computer" -> "Volume" it will read the cd an show the content in konqueror and I assume it is mounted now. Now I can see the CD in the Local Music section but there is no option "Read the device". I my opinion this doesn't make sense anyway because I assume the CD already is mounted. When I try to add the titles to the play list now, amarok will run over all titles but not play them neither, saying "Too many errors in play list". Tried do do this with a different (bought) audio CD but the only fifference was that amarok showed the titels but it didn't work anyway! With kaffeine it does not make any difference if the CD was mounted or not, it always works. So only action that works within amarok is to eject the CD. So this is no solution and the bug still exists. Martin
Martin, you just don't understand: It does work in Amarok 2.2-git, so this is definitely fixed here. If you want it to be fixed in your version, ask your distribution, we do not backport. Please do not reopen this bug unless you can reproduce this with the latest Amarok 2.2-git.
Hey Miriam! Nice comment but can you tell me, how I should now, what the hell "2.2-git" is. Be sure that I know that the distribution - in my case Debian Squeeze - does not ship everything, that is in an application internal development or testing state. But I think it is quite funny to tell me, that Amarok is not able to play audio CDs and that I do have to wait for the next version to be released. This is such a basic function! And anyway I do not feel amused if you tell me things like that in this way. I can understand that it is not always funny to support the users, but! I myself am enthusiastic about open source since 1999 but as a "normal user" I am sitting on "another site". Around here I can tell you it is not very easy to write bug reports to help myself as well as to promote the projects. Software projects are complex. Especially open source development projects are complex but we out there as users are a part of the whole! Best regards, Martin
When I add a simple mp3 media player this will be recognized after I have mounted it and I can play the mp3 media files. :-) /Insertion But I can no longer integrate the player into amarok. Is this function gone? Does it not make sense any longer? I did not use the function very often because mp3-players for me are not very important I just wonder. /Insertion end Martin
Sorry if this was not clear enough: Martin, Amarok 2.2-git is the development version, which is the most recent code available and where the developers work on it. The word "git" means the git versioning system in use, which we use now, previous was svn. The development code is never distributed to the distributions, even if some very few of them do regular checkouts and put them in experimental repositories. Debian is not amongst those. About the media player: it appears in the "Local Music" section in the left pane when it is connected. Right click on it and choose "Read device" to show it's content. You should consider the forum for support questions: http://forums.kde.org/amarok or ask directly in either #amarok or #amarok.de on irc.freenode.net. This could spare you the hassle of submitting reports for already fixed problems. JFYI: Amarok 2.2.1 was released on November 16 and the git version has since seen over 500 commits.

The option "Audio CD mit Amarok abspielen" within the KDE panel does not work. The defined action for Audio CDs is: "amarok --cdplay %f" without any parameter defined. There ist no menu entry in Amarok that shows up audio cds or gives an option to mount one. So what is the difference with this new version? Regards, Martin
