example:
kwrite > File > Open then press Ctrl+I like in Dolphin

Note that if you type something in the KDE File Open dialog's "Filter" field (which is always visible) it acts like the Ctrl+I filter field in Dolphin. I think the only missing feature is pressing Ctrl+I should put the caret in this field and select its contents (if any).
