Description hyper_ch 2009-12-15 07:06:45 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.4)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I have several disconnected IMAP accounts and one of them belongs to a domain on a dynamic ip address. So once or twice every day that ip address changes.

While the system otherwise (ping domain.com) does resolv pretty quickly to the new ip address, Kontact just won't. It has somewhat stored the old ip which is no longer working (I think).

Anyway, I just keep getting a popup error telling me:

"Could not connect to host domain.com: Socket operation timed out."

This appears even after ping can resolv domain.com to the new ip and when I can login through ssh there or browse the website.

I need to restart Kontact before it will properly work again.

This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of kontact (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.

Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
