Version: 2.3.3 (using KDE 4.3.4) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Just for the sake of usability and consistency ... Now we have Konqueror, Dolphin, Firefox etc. use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+T as the default for opening a new tab (in addition to the old faithful "Ctrl+Shift+N" as an alternate) I just noticed that this shortcut is not set by default in the keyboard shortcut, although I find its use rather obvious, I also noticed that it is empty (not assigned to another function).. so why not? I am not sure if this is the role of the program or the distro .. however I report this for the sake of usability and consistency anyway. Thanks :)
Hello. The reason Konsole does not use Ctrl+T is because all single-modifier (Ctrl/Shift/Alt) + letter combinations are reserved for use by terminal programs. Hence most shortcuts in Konsole begin with Ctrl+Shift.
> I am not sure if this is the role of the program or the distro Choosing shortcuts and interface defaults is a co-operative activity. Distributors would like the whole desktop to gell together with applications using the same shortcuts for the same actions. For application developers and people providing support or advice to users, it helps if everyone using the application gets the same default settings.
