Version: 4.3.80 (using Devel) Installed from: Compiled sources Whenever an application shows a notification (in the attached screenshot, Amarok) pops up a notification, a second "notification" like pop-up appears showing the applications with recent notifications. This is totally useless, especially if there is only one application. It takes up extra screen space and makes it look like there are two different notifications, for no benefit. This second Recent notifications "notification" should be dropped in this case.

I agree, this window is really annoying with apps like amarok... And there is no way to disable it... So when listening to music, i have to close it every song... Really bad :(
Confirmed here, seems silly for the recent notifications box to appear at all unless you click on the notify icon manually.
I agree, should be only visible by clicking on "i" systray
I think there should be an option to disable notification history

I also think that the current behaviour is not optimal. I'll try to see if I can come up with something better :-)
I think that best would be just don't show "recent notification" stripe when showing regular application notification. :)

TRUNK is kde 4.5. It's fixed in trunk. I now use colibri and wait for kde 4.5 ;)
Ok, but this fix was released in 4.4 RC time, why it wasn't backported into 4.4.0 nor 4.4.1?.. But what to do :) So I will see it in 4.5 :) And thank you for tip to colibri :)
In fact, it's fixed because there is a new notification scroll widget so it can't go in a stable release.
