Application that crashed: kstars

Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

What I was doing when the application crashed:
 Occurs during initialization.  Occurs under Ubuntu 9.10 using 64bit AMD processor on homebuilt desktop, after upgrade from previous versions.  Does NOT occur with Kubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop with dual intel 64 bit processors under initial installation.

Previous versions of kstars have worked properly on this system for three years.
