Occurs under Ubuntu 9.10 using 64bit AMD processor on homebuilt desktop, after upgrade from previous versions. Does NOT occur with Kubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Vostro 1720 laptop with dual intel 64 bit processors under initial installation.
