Version: (using KDE 4.3.4) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages How to Reproduce ================ 1) open dolphin(or konqueror) and browse to a windows server by doing smb://ipaddress 2) click on the hidden share (c$) for example 3) dialog box pops up asking for username and password 4) you enter the details connect and everything is fine. 5) reboot, repeat steps 1 and 2 and 3, once again the password is prompted even though your kwallet is open. Expected Behaviour =================== 1) open dolphin(or konqueror) and browse to a windows server by doing smb://ipaddress 2) click on the hidden share (c$) for example 3) dialog box pops up asking for username and password and there's a checbox asking to remember the password. You check this box. 4) you enter the details connect and everything is fine. 5) reboot, repeat steps 1 and 2 and 3, this time the pop up box is filled in with your username and password as it obtained the info from kwallet.
Confirmed on KDE 4.4 (from Ubuntu 9.10 PPA repository). The smb password are never saved, even checking the option to do that. Once logged in, the password is asked again every time you enter in that share. The password is also asked again even if you refresh from the same folder where you already sent the correct password. I also can't open files from smb shares, because the password isn't asked when opening files, than I get access denied.
Sounds like same as bug 205892 and bug 228914 And possibly more... going through my search list and finding lots of these that may be duplicates.
This feature works definately as of 4.4.2 (introduced in 4.4.0?). Therefore bug should be closed. It stores password in kwallet now and remembers it with a tick box. Great.
