If you perform a search by tag even pictures tagged with only a tag's children are reported:

I have nested tags:

tag1
  |_tag2

I want to find all pictures with just tag1 but if i perform an advanced search even pictures tagged with tag2 are reported.

This is somewhat related to bug #183425 - there is need for the current "in tree" behavior and there is need for your expected "just this tag" behavior.

Marked bug 218312 - "Make search results to exclude children's tags" as fixed as this bug was in fact already
fixed in 5.5.0. Confirmed the resolution in current 5.7.0 AppImage. As the new tag selection supports
selecting single tags, the subtags are searched only if they are marked themselves.
FIXED-IN: 5.7.0
