Description Panagiotis Papadopoulos 2009-12-08 18:57:49 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

The camera chooser dialog should contain a search field, which would be a huge improvement.
Currently you have to scroll through the huge list manually in order to find your camera model, which can be a pain :-P

Thanks!

Sorry I didn't mention that I am talking about the kcmkamera module :-)

excuse me, but which camera do you look for?

only serial cameras need to be looked up,
the usb cameras are all autodetected.

Oh ok, I opened the kamera kcm module while my USB camera was not attached, so thats why I thought it would be a good idea to have a search field in that dialog. Imagine someone with a serial camera having to go through the whole list (which also contains USB camera which, as you said are detected automatically)

> camera chooser dialog should contain a search field
Regardless of autodetection, adding a search field might still make sense from a UI perspective. Of course separating out serial cameras might also be an option.
