Description Jonas Thorell 2009-12-06 23:21:11 UTC
Version: (using Devel)
Installed from: Compiled sources

Using SC4.4 beta 1 (4.3.81 more accurately) I have my desktop set up as I want it to be (using the same plasmarc files as in 4.3). Once logged in, everything works as expected.

However, when I try to login I always get a "Plasma netbook closed unexpectedly" dialog even though I haven't even tried using the netbook mode. If I dismiss the dialog, I eventually get to my desktop although the login procedure takes longer than it should.

Seems strange the login-procedure is trying to launch the plasma-netbook binary when all of my activities are set up to use the regular plasma-desktop shell.

- What are your settings at SystemSettings/Desktop/Workspace ?
Thanks

Form factor: desktop
Dashboard: show desktop widgets
Comment 3 David Palacio 2009-12-17 00:50:17 UTC
I second what Jonas Thorell said, including comment #2. Also, while I was testing some widgets in my desktop, I added some widgets that seem to be plasma-netbook specific. They did not work, so I removed them immediately. In the following logins I get this bug.
Comment 4 David Palacio 2009-12-18 05:25:50 UTC
Found culprit at ~/.config/autostart/plasma-netbook.desktop
Comment 5 Dario Andres 2009-12-18 12:58:33 UTC
Oh, it seems to be true: I also found in the Autostart KCM, two entries:
plasma-desktop Enabled Startup
plasma-netbook Enabled Startup

And that causes the "double Plasma" bug for me

I guess this is a bug in the "Workspace" KCM (the one where you can choose which kind of Plasma to use). It is not deleting the netbook entry from the autostart dir.
Comment 6 Dario Andres 2009-12-18 13:39:36 UTC
I'm going to merge this with bug 217698, which has some other explanations.
Regards
