Description coda 2009-12-03 16:57:24 UTC
Version: 2.2.1 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 6", openSUSE 11.2)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop

Taglib libraries are installed and tag data is extracted and shown for songs that are in the local collection, but tag data is not shown for streamed mp3 from a mature source that Amarok 1.4.x clients still show data for.

All versions of 2.x.x Amarok clients seem to exhibit this behavior of now showing mp3 tag data from streamed sources (I've tested only builds that would have been available in OpenSUSE repos).

Reproduces every time. (Source of stream is Ampache 3.5.1 with Apache 2.2.14) Amarok is installed under Gnome in OpenSUSE 11.2.
Comment 1 coda 2009-12-03 16:59:50 UTC
Found a typo that changes the meaning. Put it in asterisks.

All versions of 2.x.x Amarok clients seem to exhibit this behavior of *not*
showing mp3 tag data from streamed sources (I've tested only builds that would
have been available in OpenSUSE repos).
Comment 2 coda 2009-12-03 17:12:30 UTC
I believe these two bugs are related. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=212099
Comment 3 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-12-03 18:32:37 UTC
HM, when I play last.fm streams I have all metadata showing here in Amarok 2.2-git. It can depend on how the stream sends metadata.

And no, I don't think those are duplicates, bug 212099 is more an encoding problem IMHO. But then again, I don't know what encoding is used by these streams.

Could you please provide a link to that stream for testing?
Comment 4 coda 2009-12-05 06:46:18 UTC
Absolutely, but I'm not posting it here. I will send you an email.
Comment 5 Karl Vollmer 2009-12-06 19:22:11 UTC
Coda do the offending files have id3v1 or id3v2 tags? (which or do they have both)
Comment 6 coda 2009-12-06 21:54:48 UTC
I've tested it with version v2.2, v2.3 and v2.4 id3tags. The tags are known to be good because Amarok v1.4.x in OpenSUSE 11.1 and Windows Media Player in Windows XP still extract the id3 tag information perfectly. Currently, the tags have all been converted to v2.3.

If I'm the only one having this problem and you are not able to reproduce it, I'll see if I can reproduce by installing Amarok 2.2.x in another *nix OS. Maybe it's a OpenSUSE 11.2 library issue. That release is still very young.
Comment 7 Karl Vollmer 2009-12-06 22:04:58 UTC
Can you please add id3v1 tags to the files in question - id3v2 and v1 are read in a different way, curious if only v2 is affected.
Comment 8 coda 2009-12-06 22:43:42 UTC
Confirmed to not be working on a different machine with Ubuntu 9.10.

Also, as requested it was tested with v1.1 and v2.2 through v2.4 id3 tags in both Ubuntu and OpenSUSE 11.2. (It didn't work in either scenario.)
Comment 9 coda 2009-12-06 22:58:05 UTC
I failed to mention the version of Amarok under Ubuntu was 2.2.0.
Comment 10 coda 2009-12-08 00:20:44 UTC
I'm not supposed to update the bug status, am I? I wouldn't think that I should have access to those fields.
Comment 11 Myriam Schweingruber 2009-12-08 08:50:20 UTC
Thank you for the feedback.
Comment 12 coda 2009-12-22 18:02:21 UTC
How does a bug move from unconfirmed to confirmed? Is there anything I can
do to help?

Thanks,
Ben

Code, a bug is confirmed when somebody else than the original reporter can confirm it reproducibly. So not much you can do about, sorry.

I have same proplem, amarok does not show mp3 tag data when playing songs from samba shares. When playing same songs from local folders amarok shows tags correct. Amarok 1.4 shows tags ok from samba shares.

I am usin amarok 2.2.2 and open suse 11.2 64-bit KDE 4

I don't think this is the same bug, yours is about Samba, this one is about Ampache.

Can somebody reproduce this (the Ampache stream problem) with Amarok 2.2.2 or current git?
Comment 16 Decha 2010-02-07 21:05:50 UTC
The issue is still present in 2.2.2.

Is this still valid with Amarok 2.3.1, to be released next week?

Not fixed. This bug still stands in Amarok 2.4.3 ...

The following stream corectly displays its TAGS while it's played:
http://he3.magnatune.com/all/21-Pachelbel Canon in D Major - Johann Pachelbel - Canon and Gigue for Three Violins and Basso Continuo in D major-Voices of Music.ogg

This doesn't:

See the attached screenshots. Thx.
Comment 23 Myriam Schweingruber 2011-10-11 12:16:38 UTC
The stream in your example is not even streaming, the service is down according to their website.
Please do not reopen or comment on such old reports, open a new one instead, but make sure your example can actually be reproduced.
