Version: (using KDE 4.3.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages There should be added a countdown of e.g. 10 seconds to the "Are you sure you wish to shutdown. because a tty is open" I just had my laptop turned on in my backpack for an hour while traveling and bumping around. I had asked to shutdown and I had seen kde shutting down. Thank you for KDM :-)
Indeed, this feature does more harm than good! It is incredibly annoying. Most users don't care if a tty has been left open. There are multiple problems. It takes a long time for this dialog to come up, so chances are the user already left the machine. A countdown is a dirty fix in my opinion, but better than nothing. The dialog should pop up immediately, and not after many seconds. Moreover, this is indeed a bug. Try to open a tty and then close it. KDE will prop up the dialog "Are you sure you wish to shutdown. because a tty is open" nevertheless. If you cannot fix this mostly unwanted feature, please consider removing it, as it does more harm than good.
@pascal: nah, you really want something different. :) *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 183274 ***
