Description kde 2009-11-29 19:02:38 UTC
Version: 2.1.0 (using KDE 4.3.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

When the system date format is set to dd.mm.yyyy and a file with dates entered as m/d/yy is opened they are not recognized as date fields. Manually changing the cell type to the correct format does not help.

One would have to reenter the dates in the system format, afterwards they would be displayed in the custom format.

Since they aren't recognized as dates they are not sorted for example as:
11/20/09
11/19/09
11/2/09
but rather:
11/20/09
11/2/09
11/19/09

Attached is a test case that was originally a CSV file and then saved as ODS with Kspread. Opening it in Calc, the date fields are set to literal strings, such as:
'11/9/09

Thus, one first needs to remove the ' to be able to use date sorting in Calc.
