Version: (using KDE 4.3.3) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Many applications ask if changes should be saved when closing (Gwenview after rotating an image, Kate when editing text). There is usually a Cancel button on the dialogue, however sometimes it is not clear to users that pressing this button cancels the close operation. The text should either be changed to "Don't Close" or maybe a tooltip or other method of explaining could be incorporated.
I like this idea. @Dothan: if you have some free time, would you like to prepare a list? Thanks!
Sure, give me a few days.
Konsole: " You have multiple tabs in this window, are you sure you want to quit? Quit | Close Current Tab | Cancel " Maybe that should be: " You have multiple tabs in this window, are you sure you want to close the window? Close the window | Close current tab | Return to current tab "
Konqueror: " You have multiple tabs open in this window, are you sure you want to quit? Close Window | Close Current Tab | Cancel " Maybe that should be: " You have multiple tabs open in this window, are you sure you want to close the window? Close Window | Close Current Tab | Return to current tab "
Dolphin: " You have multiple tabs in this window, are you sure you want to quit? Quit | Close Current Tab | Cancel " Maybe that should be: " You have multiple tabs in this window, are you sure you want to close the window? Close the window | Close current tab | Return to current tab "
Why not "return to the application" instead "return to current tab" ?
That sounds fine, but "return to current tab" tells the user more. In fact "close current tab" would also return the user to the application.
These days, those apps use the word "Discard" along with a trash can icon to make clear what will happen. If you find any apps where this isn't the case, I would advise you to file a new bug on those apps themselves.
