Description m.wege 2009-11-28 11:12:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.3)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

I just received some spam via the skype chat plugin containing some links. Then I saw some notifications seeing that the pages there were contacted and then a popup asked me if I want to accept the cookies of that webpages. I am very astonished about this behaviour. I do not know if kopete is directly responsible or not. But since this is something which I would call at least a privacy-problem, may be a security-leak, this behaviour of what seems to be a kind of link-prefetching feature (no pages was openend) needs to be turned of in kopete.

I also have a problem with this behavior.

Almost daily I get work related links from my colleges and I've noticed that it takes a very long time before I receive the message with the link because they are being prefetched. I can see the fetch process in the notification area, if I stop the prefetch request manually I receive the message right away.
If the page is password protected it takes until the request times out, which is a very long time.

I think it's a really bad idea to load the URL behind my back like that, if I want or need to load the URLs I'll click on them.
