Description Chani 2009-11-27 20:37:41 UTC
Version:           2.4 (using 4.3.75 (KDE 4.3.75 (KDE 4.4 >= 20091113)), compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-ARCH

I thought there was a bug preventing konsole from making noise, but it turns out it's just really really *really* quiet these days. I have the volume for notifications and all the general mixer stuff maxed out now, and I've had to turn amarok's volume down to 60% to compensate, but I can still *barely* hear the bell sound in a quiet room with no music playing.

technically I *could* set the notification to run `echo -e "\a"` instead (there no longer seems to be an actual system-bell option), but my pc speaker (which the drivers only recently started supporting) has a really harsh sound, and I'd much rather have the nice oxygen-y kde bell sound, if I could just *hear* it again.

I haven't checked whether this applies to any other kde sound effects.. I'm pretty sure I've had no trouble hearing the powerdevil noises, though. oh crap, that means they're going to be LOUD now. :/

Can you hear the sound clearly when clicking on the play button next to the sound file name in Settings -> Configure Notifications? The sound should be played at the same volume when the corresponding event happens in Konsole.

Konsole uses the same framework for playing sounds as other KDE applications so it would be worth checking.

I'm never going to get around to testing it properly.. why'd I even open this? :P
