What I was doing when the application crashed:
First I tried to change the name of the album (it was in Russian) to a latin transcription. It was successfully change in the "album information", but not in the playlist. When tried to set manually the cover, Amarok crashed. 
When I ran again Amarok, the album name in the playlist was the one I wrote with latin letters and  the cover art was automatically set from the picture that was included in the folder.
