Description Bobby 2009-11-23 10:16:39 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.3)
Compiler: GCC 4.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: openSUSE RPMs

First of all I have to state that the spam filter is active so I don't know if that contributes to the problem.
I have noticed that quite a few e-mails have disappeared from my inbox and sent mails and that's happening for quite a while now. the most recent was yesterday after reading and replying to two e-mails. The replys weren't to be found in sent mails and I couldn#t find the two new e-mails all of a sudden! I used the serarc function and even search the trash to see if they were deleted but nothing.
Another problem is that I can't save any e-mail address in K-Mail. I get this message if i try to: "The resource '/home/bobby/.kde4/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf' is locked by application". Could somebody please tell me what is going on here. I can't import my address book either.

For me vanishing e-mails always were caused by a malfunctioning spam-filter. Suggestion: Deactivate emptying the trash on logout, so mails stay there. If you are missing mails from then on, have a look in your trash. If you cannot find the missing mails there, please report back.

Kontact and Kmail were messed up I believe due to some updates in the past I
couldn't find my contacts either.
I got it fixed by deleting the ./kde4 folder (did a a back up of the mail
folder first), after which I overwrote the new mail folder with the old one
that I backed up. Everything is now working fine.
Thanks for the help and suggestions.

Okay. If you see such a problem again, feel welcome to open a new bug. It's good to have an clear guide for reproducing, that increases the chance that developer will fix it.

Thanks, that's very kind of you. Right now it's smooth sailing and I can't find
any bugs but as soon as one pops up then I will send it to get crushed ;)
