What I was doing when the application crashed:
Kopete has been working fine ever since I've used it.  Typically, I only use it for AIM, somtimes for Yahoo.  I added an MSN account and set it to away.  Some time while I was gone, Kopete hung/froze and had to be killed.
Not sure if the MSN account had anything to do with it, but it was the only thing that has changed.
