Version: (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources ~/.xsession-errors is where any notice go. however, lots of programs write in it, which can make it take a lot of space. see some bug reports about specific applications: #140995 #141586 #174365 i am aware that kdebugdialog can be used to limit what goes in xsession-errors. but since looking in xsession-errors can be interesting to find problems, i'm not convinced this is the best way to handle the problem. therefore, i propose that kde limits ~/.xsession-errors to a fixed size, or does some routine log rotating every x hours. according to https://qa.mandriva.com/show_bug.cgi?id=45592#c4 it seems that gnome enforces a fixed size of 200k for the file.
According to the comment, gdm can limit the size. Maybe kdm could, too?
