What I was doing when the application crashed:
Always shutting down Kopete at the end of the day without shutting down the system . Just crashed after restart. 

This might be connected to an annoying problem that occured since my system upgrade to 9.10: Kopete tries to start Akonadi on startup which always fails, probably due to file system permission problems. I could get Akonadi to start using the command logged with the failed startup by changing the data location to /tmp/. Since files are created with my user I don't know why it fails using the default location in my home directory, but that is as far as I investigated.
