Version: 3.2 (using 4.3.75 (KDE 4.3.75 (KDE 4.4 >= 20091113)), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc OS: Linux (x86_64) release 2.6.31-ARCH The Forty & Eight solver never succeeds in determining whether a new deal is winnable or not. I just tested the first 600 games and it returned "unknown" for all of them. If one plays a game through, the solver will eventually begin yielding results, so obviously it's not completely broken. If it's just that case that F&E games are to complex to solve in the alotted time, maybe increasing said time is a valid solution?
the solution finding is not time bound, but the memory is limited to 30MiB to save states. Larger I don't want it to grow. And as F&E is very linear, the tree is very deep. Normally you would write another algorithm for these kind of games, but I thought some solver is better than none. You can experiment with MemoryManager::Mem_remain and then call kpat --solve 8
I just upped Mem_remain to 1GiB, but it still failed to solve a single game in the first 100. So I guess throwing more memory at the problem won't work. :) So how would you like to handle this report? Just close it? Change it to a wish for a specialised Forty & Eight solver?
