Version of the application: 1.12.2
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.31-14-generic i686
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.10

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I was opening an e-mail, then I clicked 'Reply' and then the Kmail started hanging and so I killed it with the System Monitor.

Unfortunately, the backtrace is not helpful. 
- The debug packages are missing, which makes investigations impossible,
- The backtrace obtained after killing an application doesn't give any useful information.

If you can reproduce this bug, please install the debug package and attach gdb to the KMail process.

Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
