Description Alex Dănilă 2009-11-16 12:14:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Some KDE 4 pograms do not show up in the system tray no mater what I do.

Showing up:
rsibreak
kxkb

Not showing up:
knetworkmanager (old one does)
kmix
korgac

These programs don't show up in either the KDE panel system tray, nor in gnome-panel. They are not set to be hidden and the tray is not set to hide them. Also, the programs are functioning correctly otherwise, the are listed in ksysguard, kmix shows it's dialog and korgac shows the reminders.

No KDE 3/Gnome/other programs have this problem.

- Can you confirm that you are using KDE3 desktop (Kicker) instead of KDE4 desktop (Plasma) ? If that is the case, then this is bug 210973.

Thanks

Hi,
this is not bug 210973. I already checked it but forgot to mention that. I'm using gnome-panel and tested this with the Plasma applet.

However, I believe this is a setup problem. I created a new user with default KDE4 settings and there kmix, klipper and korgac function just fine.

So, this KDE4 application icons (kmix, korgac, and so on, which are all using the new system tray protocol) are not appearing in your KDE4 desktop ?
If it is working in a new account may be something went wrong in the update in your normal user account.
- Have you tried editing the System Tray widget settings, and re-selecting all the checkboxes below "Icon" (icon types that should appear) ?

Thanks

Hi,
Indeed, those boxes were unchecked, and checking them made them appear in the plasma system tray.

But the problem is still present with gnome-panel. So I guess this is indeed #210973.

Sorry for this incomplete report, I never noticed the effect of those checkboxes because I believed they are applied immediately when there is no "Apply" button.
