Version: (using KDE 4.3.2) OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages It would be good if Dolphin (and Konqueror when used as a file manager) had a ‘shred’ or ‘secure delete’ option in its context menu. It should simply use the commands ‘shred’ or ‘srm’ as a backend. A warning should pop up if the file in question is on the sort of journalling filesystem that makes shredding insecure.
This is basically the same wish as bug 187232 - I just don't know if "kio/trash" or "Dolphin" is the right product...
I'm guessing you mean Shift + delete ? That skips the trash. If that's the case it can be marked as fixed.
@Mark: David meant that the file should not be only deleted, but deleted in a secure way (e.g. where the old content is overwritten by random data not only removed from the directory-node). However I don't plan to implement this in Dolphin itself and hence I'm setting this as duplicate of bug 167578 *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 167578 ***
