Version: 1.3 (using KDE 4.3.2) Compiler: Compiler used to build Kubuntu package not known OS: Linux Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Problem: When the user opens a folder view in Dolphin, there are three possible view modes (Icons, Details, and Columns) and a Preview mode that can be turned on or off. When a folder view is opened in Dolphin 1.3 (KDE 4.3.2) for a directory that does not contain a .directory file (when Dolphin is set to per-directory view modes), it always defaults to "Details" view mode with the preview option turned on. Expected behavior: There should be an option in the Dolphin configuration screen to allow the user to select the default view mode and default preview state. This would be especially helpful when accessing folders on a read-only file system where the .directory file cannot be saved.
Correction: the only case I can confirm where the .directory file does not get saved is on an SSHFS filesystem that does in fact have write permission, since the .directory files from read-only FSs go in ~/.kde/share/apps/dolphin/view_properties/local). This ability to set defaults would still be useful when setting up a system or migrating from another file manager that does not use .directory files.
I fail to reproduce the problem with SSHFS using KDE SC 4.9. Mark it as fixed. Feel free to reopen if the problem still exists.
