Version: (using KDE 4.3.3) Installed from: Archlinux Packages first of all: I can't really reproduce this, but it happens everyday at least one time: * I have my webbrowser, amarok, dolphin and several other apps open and all of a sudden my mouse doesn't work anymore. I can use the cursor as usual, but now windows activates by clicking and also no window element (button...) reacts to clicking. * I can still use my keyboard to switch between apps, save files with Ctrl+S and write text. But there's no reponse when I'm clicking with my mouse. * I have this bug since the last update (4.3.3-1) on the same day there was also the xorg update, so it could be somehow related to this. * neither killall kwin && kwin -replace nor killall plasma-desktop && plasma-desktop helps * I still believe that the bug is at least somehow related to plamsa and maybe khotkeys, which I use extensivly (to close apps, switch desktop, make new tabs). I tried to reproduce it for some days now, but I have no clue what excactly causes this, maybe there's a window, that doesn't give it's focus away?
but now windows activates by clicking and also no window element (button...) reacts to, should have been: but NO window activates by clicking ...
Er.. I have also experiencing this bug with the last Xorg updates on ArchLinux (1.7), and I fixed it disabling the Mouse Gestures on the Input Actions KCM (System Settings/Input Actions/Settings/Uncheck the Gesture options/Restart) - Can you check if this steps fix your bug too ? (so then we can reassign this to the Gestures manager developer) Thanks
hm, disabling mouse gestures really seems to have fixed the issue. i tried it for several days now and everything's fine.
so how exactly can this be re-assigned to gesture manager developer?
The khotkeys maintainer was already cc'd but had no time :) Are you still able to reproduce this problem? I guess the gesture code tries to catch a gesture and never releases the mouse again. Now if i find a way to check what x11 thinks about the mouse we could test the theory :( .
I just activated gestures again and the problem still exists. I can only get my mouse working again after restarting X. how can I help you?
I still see the same problem with kde4.4.x and X server 1.7; I tested with with X server 1.6.x and kde4.3.x . The bug happens if I click and hold the mouse gesture button, in my case the middle mouse button, for a rather longer time 5-10sec. , if I am fast enough I can escape it. I think the title of this bug needs to be updated to mention mouse gestures (I had a hard time finding it :/). Any news about this?
Ping. A workaround, short of logging out, would be good too...
