Version: (using KDE 4.3.3) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages We show previews for Gimp's .xcf files and Inkscapes .svg's. It would present Krita / Dolphin / KDE better to the user if we also showed previews of .kra files, too.
Thanks for the report, but this is not in the hand of Dolphin. Krita must provide a thumbnail plugin in this case... I've changed the product to 'Krita'.
Ok, thanks Peter. I'll talk to the Krita guys then, and maybe someone there can come up with something. For anyone reading this, there seems to be a couple of nice links / forum posts on creating these plugins at: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=82908 http://api.kde.org/4.x-api/kdelibs-apidocs/kio/html/classThumbCreator.html ...and the current plugins found at: http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdebase/runtime/kioslave/thumbnail/
SVN commit 1048084 by rempt: Implement creation of preview thumbnails for files This uses some old 1.6 code to generate a scaled down QImage of the projection. It seems, for some reason, that the thumbnailer of KOffice doesn't see the thumbs yet. CCBUG:213940 M +16 -19 image/kis_image.cc M +4 -1 image/kis_image.h M +15 -0 ui/kis_doc2.cc M +3 -0 ui/kis_doc2.h WebSVN link: http://websvn.kde.org/?view=rev&revision=1048084
OK, I'm not sure of the most accurate way of testing this, but I'm running trunk Krita 1048269 on top of KDE 4.3.3 and after saving a .kra file, Dolphin still doesn't show any thumbnail. Is this something that would only become visible in KDE 4.4? Do I need to compile the plugin separately and put it in a folder somewhere for Dolphin to use?
No, that's right, as I noted in the commit, the thumbnailer doesn't see the thumbnails yet, even though they are generated correctly now. That's why the bug is still open :-)
AH, I see. I thought you meant Koffice was writing the preview, but not reading it, so I tried reading it with Dolphin instead. Got it.
Somewhere along the line (KDE 4.4?), this seems to have been fixed. Thanks!
Digikam 6.3 doesn't show .KRA thumbnails. Dolphin and Krusader does.
This is not a Krita issue. If Dolphin and Krusader show thumbnails, then they use the kimageio plugins correctly; if Digikam doesn't show them, then it is a Digikam problem. Please report the problem to Digikam and don't re-use ten year old bug reports for this: everything in the history of this report is irrelevant.
My fault!!!! While I was typing the subject here, this bug appeared, but I didn't notice that this old bug (opened by me years ago) was refered to Krita, cause I opened it for Digikam, so I press "Send" without taking into account it was for Krita. My apologies Krita es AWESOME!!
No problem :-)
