Description Giuseppe Iannì 2009-11-07 15:00:40 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.3)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages

i don't know if this is the right place to file this bug, but it started after upgrading to kde 4.3.3 and it refers to panels.
As soon as i upgraded to kde 4.3.3 vlc fullscreen doesn't cover the panels anymore. this is it. i tried upgrading vlc to last available version (1.0.3) but no changes.
the fullscreen window resizes to the available space on the screen keeping the panels visible.

probably a kwin problem

is there a way to move the bug-report to kwin maintainers or should i file another bug in kwin section?
Comment 3 Beat Wolf 2009-11-07 16:31:27 UTC
i can do so. I didn't because i wasn't sure kwin is the problem and not plasma.
But i do it anyway.

kwin maintainers: move it back if this is a plasma bug and not a kwin bug. thanks

It happens with all vlc's output modules (drivers). But fullscreen works just fine with mplayer (even using the same drivers).

just did a test: it's a vlc bug. The fullscreen mode isn't fullscreen but a maximized borderless window. This of course does not cover the panels. Please report this bug to VLC developers

As a workaround you can use alt+f3->advanced->fullscreen to change the vlc window to fullscreen or you can create a special window setting rule to always enforce the vlc window to be fullscreen (but IIRC the class and role settings of VLC are broken as well)
