Description Florian 2009-11-04 09:33:06 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled From Sources

I think this is related to the bugs 192661 and 192778

After a logout, my kde lost it's settings, i got default-settings. Implied with this, kmail lost ALL settings, including rules, smtp, imap and pop3-accounts and identities!

I can reproduce this if i kill X while i am logged in in kde, i have this now since the first(!) KDE v4 release until now, so it has something to do with KDE v4.

Possible explanation:

It seems to me, that beginning with kde 4 after a kde-crash, kde reinitializes it's own settings and deletes them unfortunately.
As theese settings are in the same place as the settings for kmail, i believe that with this reinitialization the kmail settings die.

Must be something else. Never lost settings although my system crashs sometimes for various reasons

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 192778 ***

I had the same problem about three times, in a year. Maybe have somethingto do with KDE version updates.

I think that this bug shouldn't be marked as duplicate of bug 192778, but the failure 192778 should be marked as a duplicate of this one.
