Description Dmitry Makovey 2009-10-30 19:45:18 UTC
Version: 1.12.1 (using KDE 4.3.1)
Compiler: gcc (Gentoo 4.3.4 p1.0, pie-10.1.5) 4.3.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

I have migrated from the KDE3.5 KMail to 4.3.1's KMail. Previously I had certain threads marked as "watched" automatically (by one of the filters) and all was good. However with new KMail when I apply any aggregation mode that works with threading and subsequently select "filter by status: unread" I "lose" some of my mail - namely it doesn't show up! The only way for me to see *all* my unread messages is to apply "aggregation mode: Falt Date View" and then apply "filter by status: unread". Otherwise emails marked as watched do not appear (under certain conditions). In my case I have seen those combinations to produce above problem:

Unread+Watched
Unread+Important+Watched
Unread+Action Item+Watched

Surprisingly when I have
Unread+Important+Action Item+Watched
everything works fine.

Another thing that comes to mind is that previously I was marking *messages* as watched, apparently new KMail allows only for threads to be watched.

Even email arriving while using 1.12.1 and marked as watched (and still "unread") would still get lost in above filtering scheme.

I did not see anything of relevance in the changelog for KDE-4.3.2 so I'm assuming nobody noticed yet?

Also seems like it may be related to Bug #183562 . not sure though.

ugh... how did it decide to drop a bug into adept is beyond me - please, re-file it under KMail. Apologies to adept group who obviously has nothing to do with this one.

looks like same thing happens in searches... and this time "watched" is not in the mix. So now I have no idea what the criteria are... basic thing is - threading is broken. as soon as it's "on" I start to "miss" mails.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
