Description Joseph Rawson 2009-10-30 18:35:48 UTC
Application that crashed: konqueror
Version of the application: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.3
Operating System: Linux 2.6.30-2-amd64 x86_64
Distribution: Debian GNU/Linux unstable (sid)

What I was doing when the application crashed:
I can reproduce this easily on my machine.

Start konqueror (web browser profile).
Load this url: http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/story/115376
Select "Archive Web Page" from Tools menu.
Click "save" on file dialog, using default filename and location (~/Documents on my machine)
Then konqueror will crash (happens every time).

Other webpages seem to work ok.
The top url: http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/ also seems to work just fine.
It seems that any story/article picked from the news site will cause the crash.

Can be closed. Both URLs work with KDE 4.3.4.
Comment 5 Dario Andres 2009-12-17 02:30:36 UTC
Closed as requested. Please reopen if you experience those crashes again. Thanks
Comment 6 Juha Tuomala 2010-01-05 11:49:27 UTC
re-open this, 4.3.4 and still crashes here.
Comment 7 Dario Andres 2010-01-05 12:00:18 UTC
@Juha: are you getting the same backtrace as in comment 0? It could be a different kind of crash... (which should be tracked on a new bug report) Regards
Comment 8 Juha Tuomala 2010-01-05 12:09:31 UTC
no, it's this kind of http://pastebin.com/d4e407ac1
Comment 9 Dario Andres 2010-01-05 12:13:07 UTC
It is quite the same. Reopening. Thanks
Comment 10 Juha Tuomala 2010-01-05 12:26:32 UTC
I've flash-plugin installed and that somali page has quite a bit of such content. wouldn't be the first time it causes a crash.
Comment 11 Matthias Grimrath 2010-01-06 19:26:13 UTC
I tried to archive

http://pastebin.com/d4e407ac1

and it works just fine here.

a) Are you sure you are using the webarchiver from 4.3.4? Maybe your distro messed something up

b) try disabling flash and/or javascript

Yep, that's it. Fedora has not updated the konq-plugins package, it's still in previous version. Thanks for your time, all.
Comment 13 Rex Dieter 2010-01-27 16:41:56 UTC
if someone can't point me to where to find this mythical konq-plugins-4.3.4 , I'd be happy to update fedora to use it. Afaict, the last extragear releases where makde with kde-4.3.3.

(ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/4.3.4/src/extragear/ is empty )
Comment 14 Matthias Grimrath 2010-01-29 18:34:29 UTC
yes, you are right. I did not find konq-plugins for 4.3.4 too. But the webarchiver hasn't changed so you may go with konq-plugins from 4.3.3

Maybe Juha Tuomala had an even older version installed like 4.2.X
Comment 15 Juha Tuomala 2010-01-29 20:35:56 UTC
konq-plugins-4.3.3-2.fc11.x86_64
Comment 16 Dario Andres 2010-04-05 14:36:14 UTC
From bug 224510:
- What I was doing when the application crashed:
konqueror crashes when trying to archive certain web-pages. One example of
those pages which make konqueror crash is:
http://mantenimientobrompton.blogspot.com/2009/10/selector-de-colores-para-bicicletas.html
This crashing happens rather often lately.

From bug 233316:
-- Information about the crash:
When trying to save a website konqueror crashes.
1- Click in toolbar, select Tools->Archieve Web Page...
2- Click in the button Save and konqueror crashes
Seems that konqueror only crashes when trying to save the webpages from
website http://www.phoronix.com
I have tried to save severall articles from that website and always with the
same result, konqueror crashing.

I can reproduce it here. I have investigated bit and possibly the assertion is wrong but I am not sure yet.

BTW technically this crash is unrelated to the previous crashes.
Comment 21 Matthias Grimrath 2010-04-12 20:24:30 UTC
crash from #16 fixed in commit 1114085
Comment 22 2010-04-12 21:04:36 UTC
Can tell what where the changes commited? Were also commited in branch?

See for yourself, it is short
