Description Diego Ercolani 2009-10-30 14:41:43 UTC
Version: Versione 1.3 Con KDE 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 183" (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: openSUSE RPMs

I noticed that If I connect to a remote machine in dolphin using the fish:// io_slave, dolphin correctly popups a window asking for account information to use for connection to the remote system.
Clicking Ok, it's possible to view the remote filesystem structure but Mouse icont (pointer) disappear while the motion is inside the dolphin window. Pointer is only "transparent" because is possible to see mouse movements because of reaction of icons on mouseover event.
To make pointer visible, the workaround I found is to close the dolphin window and reopen. Dolphin uses the old accounting informations to connect to the remote systems and so doesn't need to popup the password window and... pointer doesn't disappear.
That's why I think this issue is regarded to password window popup

Thanks for the report, but I cannot reproduce this issue. Did you install a custom mouse pointer scheme in systemsettings?
Comment 2 Diego Ercolani 2009-12-22 15:47:27 UTC
Uhm... strange.
The pointer scheme is the one OpenSuse 11.1 distribute, it's called "Oxygen White".

Currently I have kde from the SuSE Factory repositories (http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Factory:/Desktop/openSUSE_11.1/): package version 4.3.85-203.3.
Just yesterday I tryied to connect to a samba share (smb:// ioslave) and the problem appeared. Today I'm trying but the problem doesn't face...
I don't know the recipe to reproduce the issue but sometimes happens and it's very annoying.
Comment 3 Diego Ercolani 2010-01-13 11:29:27 UTC
It has restarted again: if I connect via smb:// or fish:// kio_slave under dolphin I have the same issue... I tryied to screencast a session to show what happens but recordmydesktop records pointer only on clicks...
my current versions:
kdebase4-runtime-4.3.90-177.6
kdelibs4-core-4.3.90-212.2
kdelibs4-4.3.90-212.2
under opensuse 11.1

If you address me to give you more needed info I will try to provide

Can you reproduce this bug with the newest version of Dolphin?
If not, I'll close this bug.
Comment 5 Diego Ercolani 2018-03-12 09:14:01 UTC
We are talking about 9 years ago :-P

Nowadays fish seem to work correctly.

If you want a "cosmetic issue" when you connect to a user like fish://user@somewhere and the natural home is "/home/user", dolphin gray-out the "go up directory" button.... while it would be possible to go up one level

KDE Frameworks 5.32.0
Qt 5.6.2 (compilato con 5.6.2)
(openSUSE Leap 42.3)

Well, it's nice that this bug itself is fixed. If you want to report the other cosmetic issue feel free, but I think that does belong into a new bug. Thanks for the quick response, closing this now :)
