Version: (using KDE 4.3.2) Installed from: I Don't Know The idea is as follows: When you drop an item on a taskbar entry there is a drop signal sent to the application with the data that was dropped. The application can handle the data any way that it sees fit. They key here is that the application accepting the data does not necesarily focus. The current alternative is to hold your drag over the taskbar item and wait for the application to focus. You then drop whatever you want in the place Some samples of possible uses: - drop a URL on konqueror then it loads that URL. - - Drop a File on dolphin in gives the same move/copy option as if files are being copied. - Drop Dolphin onto dolphin closes one dolphin instance and loads the second one's location as a tab in the first I would appreciate some feedback here because I realise that an incorrect implementation of this feature can compromise usability. But a correct implementation can make KDE much more intuitive and user friendly(in my opinion). This feature request was originally submitted through KDE Brainstorm, and has been submitted to Bugzilla due to popular demand. Original idea: http://forum.kde.org/brainstorm.php?mode=idea&i=82603

Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
