Description Hemant Kumar 2009-10-27 08:29:10 UTC
Version:           4.3.2 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS:                Linux
Installed from:    Ubuntu Packages

Aforementioned bug by was triggered by PDF of "ACM Communications" November.

* How to reproduce
If you have November issue of ACM communications open the PDF in okular and in the first page, there is an ad of reviews.com. Click on it and watch infinite number of konquerors filling your task bar. "ps aux" shows those processes as kio_http.

* Expected behaviour
First only one konqueror should open the url, second it should respect preferred browser settings (which might need a bug report of its own).

* Remarks
I have not tried reproducing the bug with other pdf files url embedded in it. Twice I am able to reproduce it with ACM communications pdf, experience is so horrifying that I do not dare try again.

We don't have the November issue of ACM communications so we can't test.

I've tried with another pdf i have and it just open a konqueror.

Then i changed my default browser to firefox and it opened in firefox

So well, i can't reproduce any of your horrifying experiences, maybe the problem is in the ACM file? Can you attach it?

I can reproduce the problem with other pdfs as well. I am attaching Ruby PickAxe book, try clicking on http://ruby-doc.org url that is there in second page. But yeah, if you can't reproduce it with your pdfs I doubt you will be able to reproduce with these pdfs.

Since the PDFs were large in size, download them from:

http://backgroundrb.gnufied.org/ruby_book.pdf
http://backgroundrb.gnufied.org/acm.pdf

I am running Kubuntu-9.04 with KDE-4.3.2 installed from backports. If you have such a system handy, can you try reproducing the problem there?

Works for me on stock Kubuntu 9.10 packages. What is your default desktop, gnome or kde? Also are you opening the pdf file from okular itself or in a tab embedded in konqueror?

I updated to Kubuntu 9.10 and problem seems to have gone. I swear, it was weird when I faced it. I guess we can close this ticket now.
