Description DrSlony 2009-10-26 10:24:52 UTC
Version: 0.10.0-r1 (using KDE 4.3.2)
Compiler: gcc-4.3.4
OS: Linux
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

TIF files, which are RAW files from cameras such as the Phase One P 45+ or Canon EOS-1D, open up as very small, only their thumbnails are used. I checked them using exiv2 to make sure those files really are RAWs, and they are. I'm getting permission from the photographer to upload one of these files for you.

Try with current implementation from svn

Can you see the full image size with "display" command tool from imagemagick ?

Note : with tiff tags treeview, you can set more than one image. Sound like the first one is a thumbnail.

I can't try the SVN, but I found that renaming it from .tif to .raw fixes the problem.

Here's a link to the RAW file with permission from the author (warning, it takes a long time to load it in showfoto and for digikam to read it if you click on the thumbnail.):
http://fileupl.com/list.php?i=nlcdbk
43.4MB, download speed varies depending on time of day.

Up until now RAW files were TIFF files but with a different files extension. Now come these files - the camera gives them the .tif extension?
That is a problem for us, we rely on extension so far.
How did you determine from the exiv2 output that these are RAW files?

DrSlony,

Do you see comment #3 from Marcel ?

Sorry, I don't have access to these files anymore so I can't answer your question. I'll get back to you if I get my hands on some.
Comment 6 DrSlony 2012-03-25 23:54:01 UTC
It might take a long time, so I'll change status to NEEDSINFO/WAITINGFORINFO.

Can you reproduce the problem with this release ?

I still don't have any of those files to test with.
Comment 9 caulier.gilles 2019-12-24 08:49:00 UTC
Not reproducible with 7.0.0-beta1
