Which poppler version do you have?
version 0.15.5 Thanks for the help: I remember, there was a security update for libpoppler recently. I downgraded the package libpoppler4 0.11.5-1ubuntu2.4 to 0.11.5-1ubuntu2.2 and now it works. Thanks a lot! Now I can purge this proprietary acroread and use my FOSSy okular again ;).
s/0.15.5/0.10.5 Sorry!
you should warn the packagers of your distribution so they rebuild okular against the newer poppler, as obviously is a good idea to run a poppler with all the security fixes included. Closing as the user says it works for him.
