Description ken Johnson 2009-10-20 17:16:39 UTC
Application that crashed: amarok
Version of the application: 2.1.1
KDE Version: 4.3.2 (KDE 4.3.2)
Qt Version: 4.5.2
Operating System: Linux 2.6.28-15-generic i686
Distribution: Ubuntu 9.04

What I was doing when the application crashed:
amarok is difficult to start up, it plays for a few seconds, then quits.

Another thing it does is that it goes through all the motions of play, but there is no sound or audio produced, just dead silence.

I have tried to upgrade amarok, I have tried to download off the KDE site, but to no avail. I do not know what to do right --- I love my music and miss my amarok. Can any of you help me?

Ken, if the music doesn't play, then you most likely don't have the codecs installed.

As for Amarok 2.2, there are no packages for Jaunty so far, but it will ship with Kubuntu 9.10 aka Karmic Koala, to be released on October 29th.

This is a duplicate and a bug in Phonon, not in Amarok.

Myriam,
It is good to hear from you again.

Question: where do I find the codecs and how do I upgrade my
repositories? The latest amarok I have is amarok 2:2.1.1.

Is there a later one out there? Frankly, this version is the most
unstable one (2:2.1.1) I have yet to work with.

Thanks,

ken

Ken, you need to install the libxine1-ffmpeg package.
