Version: (using KDE 4.3.2) OS: Linux Installed from: SuSE RPMs I have a laptop with a Nivida card (resolution 1920×1200) and a second screen (1680×1050). My laptop screen is set on "left from" the second screen and everything works well. But when I leave the session, the setting is lost and the two screens become clones. So I have to set it to "left" each time I begin my session.
you could save your settings to xorg.conf from inside nivdia-settings. That way it should always use the correct setup on session start - at least it works for me.
It would be a workaround. But I don't use the Nvidia official driver (I'm using the RC1 of Opensuse and I don't know if the official driver is already available). And I still think it's not normal that it doesn't work inside KDE (I can understand that I have a cloned login screen, and it's not really a problem). KDE has some good tools to configure multihead, it would be a pity if I had to use nvidia-settings instead.
I've installed the Nvidia driver and everything works well now. My two screens are automatically seen as one big screen at login, I haven't had to use nvidia-settings. So if we consider that having to use Nvidia's driver is a solution, this bug is fixed.
