Description Marco Menardi 2009-10-16 23:14:08 UTC
Version: 1.0.0-beta5 (using KDE 4.3.2)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

Main menu items have just the first word capitalized, while most of Digikam ones, at least in English (Italian translation is ok on this regard) has each word capitalized, like under Album menu:
New Album From Selection...
instead of
New album from selection...

Not severe, but annoying :)

Hmm well this is normal, every KDE application works like this. It's the KDE styleguide...
Comment 2 Andi Clemens 2009-10-16 23:17:58 UTC
In general this is used in Gnome, too (see Gimp for example). I guess even Windows and Mac uses this style...
Comment 3 Andi Clemens 2009-10-16 23:22:49 UTC
Just checked it, even Windows uses this... so I wonder why you came up with the idea that this is a bug?
Comment 4 Johannes Wienke 2009-10-16 23:27:02 UTC
Andi, did you really read the bug report? ;) He's talking about an inconsistency.
Comment 5 Marco Menardi 2009-10-16 23:31:40 UTC
What about spend some time and READ the bug report?
Also gimp has each menu item with just the first word capitalized.
Digikam has Each Word Of Each Item Instead, a thing that no KDE app, nor Windows app, and (I've not used GNOME) Gimp has.

If you want to be the ONLY KDE application with this "style", is fine to me, it's up to you, but is not good at all, OMHO.
Comment 6 Andi Clemens 2009-10-16 23:33:34 UTC
Well, this is simply not true...
Comment 7 Marco Menardi 2009-10-16 23:39:53 UTC
Yes, really... I've to apologise, firing Konqueror in English showed the same "problem". I've kde in Italian, as usual, and never noticed this "strange thing" in English. Having run digiKam in english brought me to this conclusion, that was a digiKam problem (I also discussed this in chat 3 days ago, but probably with someone with my same setup, since agreed with me).
So seems that in English KDE is using this fancy way of capitalize menu items.
Doubt I will convince you to change all the KDE strings, right? :)
Comment 8 Andi Clemens 2009-10-17 00:19:39 UTC
As already discussed in IRC, there was a misunderstanding between Italian and English GUI design :) But we are all friends again... so finally closing this report as "happily resolved"... :D
