Description Pal Körössy 2009-10-10 11:37:52 UTC
Version: (using KDE 4.3.1)
OS: Linux
Installed from: SuSE RPMs

I'm using different activity for each desktop. All the 4 desktops have been configured as a folder view type with slideshow for the background.
After restarting KDE on 2 or 3 out of the 4 desktops don't appear any background picture, they remain just simple light blue color. If I go and check the desktop settings in Folder view settings/Appearance, they seem to be unchanged, I can even reactivate the slideshow by just modifying the image changing interval and then applying it.
I'm using OpenSUSE 11.1 x86_64 with KDE 4.3.2

Same exact problem than Paul with KDE4.3.3 except that I used customized wallpapers (that is, not the default KDE wallpapers, but my own pictures) for background of my various virtual desktop instead of slideshow. I have also 1 activity by desktop.

Like him after restarting I get blue background everywhere I set a personal wallpaper. On a desktop where i have the default wallpaper, it's ok.
Then If I go to "desktop settings" on a faulty desktop, i can see that the wallpaper is yet remembered and if I click "OK" it reappears.

According to this thread: http://forum.kde.org/viewtopic.php?f=67&t=83853&p=137714#p137714 at least 2 more people incounter the same bug.

Thanks,
Kolia

Same problem, three out of four will be blue at startup. I have two systems on my computer, both with the same bug: Ubuntu 9.10, Dell_X02 with Kubuntu-Desktop KDE 4.3.3 and Linux Mint 8 Helena, with Kubuntu-Desktop KDE 4.3.3.
Dell Inspiron 1545 Laptop, Intel Duo T3400 CPUs @2.16Ghz 3GB RAM.

I'm running KDE4.3.3 and have 10 virtual desktops, each having 1 activity and each having a different wallpaper.
After re-login, some of the wallpapers appear on the wrong desktop. So it seems the order or something is mixed up.

I use kde-4.3.4 and I'm having the same problem.
I have 6 desktops each with a different activity.
They wander around, the don't stay on the same number.
Gerard.

I upgraded kwin to 4.3.4-r1 (Gentoo nomenclature) and this resolved the problem.
There still are some minor problems with desktop icons though.
Activities and wallpapers stay put now.
Thanks to the devs.
Gerard.
