At the end of audiofile playback there is some distortion (in left channel - I can see it with ossxmix) and it specially annoying on short sounds like notifications or game sounds in KDiamond. I am using phonon-xine-backend, with gstreamer-backend sound quality is terrible. Didn't try mplayer or vlc backends though these apps play nicely standalone. I can run xine-ui, but when I am trying adjust some settings xserver goes mad eating all available CPU then crash (I think this is fgrlx related) Software: Phonon 4.3.1 xine-backend 0.2.60 OSSv4.1 - OSSv4.2 Mixer - vmix Hardware: M-audio Revolution 5.1 (envy24ht) Frequency rate: 48000 Hz, switching to 96000 Hz did not help
Did I get this right, you were using the Phonon version from Qt 4.6.x when this happened? Is this still valid with latest KDE SC 4.4?
>Did I get this right, you were using the Phonon version from Qt 4.6.x Not from Qt 4.6.x but some custom build. I will check Phonon's behaviour again after upgrade to KDE 4.4.x / Qt 4.6.x
Qt: 4.6.2 KDE: 4.4.1 (KDE 4.4.1) libphonon4: 4:4.6.2-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 phonon-backend-xine: 4:4.3.80-0ubuntu1~karmic1~ppa2 libxine1: 1.1.16.3-vdpau-0ubuntu2~karmic~nvidiavdpauppa1 (tested with usual xine 1.1.16.3 too 1.1.16.3) Distortion still here.
Thank you for the feedback.
Is this still valid with a more recent Phonon version? Current stable is 4.4.4
We are sorry, but the xine backend is unmaintained: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kde-announce&m=130744384419151 Please use the phonon-backend-gstreamer or thre phonon-backend-vlc instead.
