Description Parameshwara Bhat 2009-10-06 18:41:50 UTC
Version: unknown (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 168", KDE:KDE4:Factory:Desktop / openSUSE_11.1)
Compiler: gcc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.27.29-0.1-default

I have always found kfind not keeping with KDE spirit of making things easy and featureful. And kfind remains untouched by all the good work going on in KDE4.

My biggest complaint is,if one needs to search around a word, kfind demands the word escaped with * and ended with star.On the otherhand, you can just type the word in Gnome for the same search.Kfind is not as user friendly. Not to speak of Windows search.

This should go as wishlist. But I do not find the option.

Yes, KFind needs major work to improve the UI and the functionality + integrating the new KDE technologies. Unfortunatelly KFind needs a maintainer. I can only fix minor issues :-\
Merging with bug 204015.
