Testin Multimedia with Xine-Backend and PulseAudio works well with HDA Intel ALC885 Analog Driver. Other Multimediaprograms like noatun, mplayer or xmms works great. The dbg-Packages of KDE, amarok, xine and phonon are installed but there are no infos about phonon_xine.so in the Backtrace?! Do you have a hint whats missing? With gstreamer-Backend in KDE-Multimedia settings, amarok starts fine but theres no longer any sound in kde... Can you please install debug packages for Phonon-Xine too? (If you look at the backtrace, the most interesting lines are from phonon_xine.so.)
There is no package like that for debian sid and i don't know how to build it, sorry. Do you know where i can obtain a matching package for phonon-backend-xine 4:4.3.1-4?
*** Bug 209692 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
This could be related to bug 194893 (bug 188602). Have you tried reinstalling your phonon-xine and xinelib packages ? Thanks
Yes i've tried. I've purged every xine and phonon package, delete every configfile in my homedirectory, restart the computer and reinstall the packages but nothing changed, so, i think my problem is not related to 194893 or 188602. By the way i'm using puleaudio because the Debian packages KDE depends on it.
I have installed amarok-nightly, amrok-nightly-dbg updates. But it's the same thing : OS: Ubuntu Jaunty Qt: 4.5.2 KDE: 4.3.00 (KDE 4.3.0) Amarok: 2.2-GIT-NEON I hope the backtrace message will help you. @Yop69: your crash is a different one. Please try to upgrade your phonon installation. If it keeps crashing, please create a new bug report. Thanks
The Problem is still present with phonon-backend-xine 4:4.3.1-5. After deleting all personalconfigs of xine and Amarok and installation of phonon-backend-null Amarok ist starting an working but issn't able to play anything (as expected). After reinstall of phonon-backend-xine amarok is still crashing. Btw. juk is affected by the phonon-backend-xine problem too but xine is working very well.

Note to onlookers: If you are filing a bug and think your backtrace is similar to the one in this report, it isn't. Please open a new report. Michael: I would look in debian helps to see if you can find a package for this. If you can improve the backtrace, can you repost it? Thanks!

I can't report a new report bug because my Crash Information (Backtrace) say : Application: Amarok (amarok), signal: Segmentation fault And that'all :( I read http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports#Preparing_your_KDE_packages, install package, but it's do nothing. Can you help me ?
Yop69: if you are dealing with sound packages, you need your kde & amarok debug packages installed, and also the phonon ones. Possibly also ones for whichever back-end is causing problems (pulseaudio, xine, etc.). But if the bug turns out to be in a backend, then it should be filed with them, not us. Whatever your problem turns out to be, odds are it isn't caused by the same thing as this person, even if it results in an amarok crash. There are just too many different things that could go wrong, and if we have 8 different backtraces -- all for different bugs -- on one bug report, then triagers get confused (you try to memorize 8 backtraces on one page! :). The title of this report was rather general (unfortunately still is really), so it is easy to get confused and think your bug might be the same. Start a new bug report and post the backtrace that you have, we can tell you where to look. That url should also help: you have to install debug packages for your distro. Any ?? that are in the first twenty lines or so of "Thread 1", you want to install those debug packages to turn them into non-?? Your distribution's help resources should be able to give you more information. Thanks!

@Yop69: try starting Amarok from GDB (it is explained in that KDE Techbase article)
(In reply to comment #17) > @Yop69: try starting Amarok from GDB (it is explained in that KDE Techbase > article) Why I should start with GDB because I have a good backtrace no ? My amarok-nightly crash and here, it says that it's phonon crash and it's resolved ! No not on my plate form :(

Juste for information, I changed my pc and I'mn under Ubuntu Karmic with Amarok 2.2.0 and all is ok for me. So my previous bug can be cancelled ! Thank you
For the record, -dbg symbols for the backends themselves can be found in phonon-backends-dbg on Debian and Kubuntu (from 10.04 onwards) systems.
I tried using the beta repository of kubuntu 9.10, but the bug is still here with the last version of phonon, I installed the phonon-backends-dbg package. That's the backtrace I have with the new version : Application: Amarok (amarok), signal: Segmentation fault The current source language is "auto; currently c". I found this bug report in xine bugtracker : http://bugs.xine-project.org/show_bug.cgi?id=299 The solution exposed in the comments works for me : this solution is to delete the file ~/.xine/catalog.cache
I've tried to delete the file ~/.xine/catalog.cache but it didn't solve the problem for me. Sorry
Since removing this file solves the issue, can this report be closed? Seems it is a dupe of bug 188602 anyway
Closing as duplicate and lack of feedback. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 188602 ***
