Description michael 2009-10-05 23:38:08 UTC
Version: 1.3 (using 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-1-686

I have tried to work this one out myself, but at a loss. I have changed file associations several times. It correctly detects msword files locally, however once you browse to a samba shares, all .doc files are detected as plain text. And even worse, it seems that each time this occurs, it also tries to add a file association back into text/plain for .doc files. (Either that or it isn't preserving the changes) I removed the ~/.kde4/share/config/profilerc to ensure no corruption there, frustrating as this only seems to affect .doc files

- Does this also happens on Konqueror and some open file dialog ? Thanks
Comment 2 michael 2009-10-06 01:55:08 UTC
Yes, you are right.. I should have included that.. but Konqueror also sees the files with the .doc extension over smb:// as 'plain text'. And then if I go to Settings ->Configure Konqueror->File Associations, I see both "*,v" and "*.doc" back added as associated with text/plain

Works for me in KDE Frameworks 5.47.
