Version: 0.3 (using Devel) OS: Linux Installed from: Compiled sources This is an idea to make the notifications in KDE less intrusive. In addition to the fulle notification popups, there should also be a minimized mode where a notification only makes the icon appear in a corner. Switching between these two systems can be set in the system tray settings or possibly by clicking an maximize/minimize symbol on the notifications icon in the tray. Clicking the notifications icon could also show a menu for switching between the 2 modes, as well as other options, like e.g. a history button. As with the full notification system, multiple notifications can be stacked, shown as stacked/connected icons. The area where the notification will actually be shown can be set using an amarok-like OSD placement tool. Moving the mouse over this icon makes a little description appear, clicking it shows the full notification. After a while, a timer appears (circle filling up clockwise or something like that) and, when full, the notification disappears. The same progress indicator can be used to visualize the progress of file transfers, burning cd's, copying/moving,... mockups: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Dungeon+keeper+style+notifications?content=111192 http://forum.kde.org/brainstorm.php#idea78252

Hello! This feature request was filed for KDE Plasma 4, which reached end-of-support status in August 2015. KDE Plasma 5's desktop shell has been almost completely rewritten for better performance and usability, so it is likely that this feature request is already implemented in Plasma 5, or is no longer applicable. Accordingly, we hope you understand why we must close this feature request. If the requested feature is still desired but not implemented in KDE Plasma 5.12 or later, please feel free to open a new ticket in the "plasmashell" product after reading https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Bug_Reporting If you would like to get involved in KDE's bug triaging effort so that future mass bug closes like this are less likely, please read https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved#Bug_Triaging Thanks for your understanding!
